Professional Bio

Dr. Karen Hui was born and raised in Hong Kong, where she first discovered her passion for veterinary medicine. She earned her veterinary medicine degree from National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan, before returning home to Hong Kong, where she practiced as a small animal general practitioner for seven years. During this time, Dr. Hui actively volunteered at local animal shelters, providing essential medical care to homeless animals in need.

Dedicated to advancing her clinical expertise, Dr. Hui pursued a Master’s degree in Small Animal Surgery at Massey University in New Zealand. Following her Master’s, she undertook specialty internship training, first in small animal surgery in Hong Kong, and subsequently in combined surgery and critical care in British Columbia, Canada. These rigorous experiences equipped her with advanced skills in managing complex surgical and medical cases.

Through her extensive training, Dr. Hui developed a strong passion for veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, recognizing the profound impact these advanced treatments bring to her patients’ overall comfort and quality of life. Currently, she is pursuing residency training in veterinary dentistry and oral surgery, integrating her broad clinical expertise and meticulous attention to detail to provide exceptional patient care.

Outside of her veterinary career, Dr. Hui enjoys staying active and connecting with nature. Although she had to leave her passion for scuba diving behind when relocating from coastal cities to Alberta, she has enthusiastically embraced new activities such as horse riding, skiing, and ice skating, fully enjoying her Canadian adventure.
